Our Founders

  • Sam

    Pilates Instructor

Sam Moore, a passionate advocate for Pilates that has transformed her own life through this exercise form. Sam’s initial passion was dance. She immersed herself in the rhythm, grace and movement of the art form. Unfortunately, her professional dance career was cut short by a hip injury. This setback forced her to reevaluate her path. This is where she discovered her passion for Pilates.

During intense rehabilitation, Sam encountered Pilates. This holistic exercise method became her lifeline. Pilates helped her regain strength, mobility, and the ability to move without pain. Since then, Pilates has been an integral part of Sam’s daily life, allowing her to function pain-free.

Sam’s personal transformation inspired her to train as a Pilates instructor. She diligently studied with Pilates Foundation, Pilates Precision, and STOTTS over several years, becoming fully certified. Before founding her own studio, Sam taught in various studios, sharing her passion for Pilates.

In 2011, Sam established MOORE Pilates Ltd with a clear mission. The studio’s driving force is to empower clients. To utilise Pilates for injury recovery, manage various conditions and learn how to use their bodies efficiently.

Sam regularly collaborates with athletes, helping them reassess and improve their movement patterns. She remains curious about the body’s response to exercise. Sam imparts her fascination through courses, including the Level 3 Diploma in Mat Work at her studio. Beyond the studio, she delivers Mat Work courses within schools and universities.

Sam Moore’s dedication to Pilates has not only transformed her own life but also positively impacted countless others. Her commitment to education and community outreach continues to inspire those around her.

  • Jo

    Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor

Jo’s fascination with movement began in 1996, as she trained for her first marathon. Faced with a painful knee injury, she sought a method that would not only manage the discomfort but also enhance her mobility. It was during this quest that Jo discovered Pilates, a practice that would become a cornerstone of her life.

The transformative power of Pilates was evident, and Jo’s enthusiasm for the discipline led her to become an instructor. In 2003, she earned her certification from Body Arts and Science International in Hong Kong, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her career.  Driven by a desire to delve deeper into the science of movement, Jo relocated to Australia to pursue a degree in Physiotherapy. Her dedication culminated in a graduation from the University of Notre Dame, Perth, in 2011.

Australia offered a rich tapestry of opportunities, allowing Jo to hone her skills across various disciplines, including Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Respiratory, Community, and Hydrotherapy. She also played a pivotal role in mentoring physiotherapists, sharing her expertise in the Pilates method.

In 2014, Jo’s path led her back to the UK, where she joined the NHS. Her work focused on falls prevention and the rehabilitation of the elderly, reflecting her deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life for her patients.

In addition to her NHS role, Jo has thrived in private practice. Her dual expertise in Physiotherapy and Pilates has enabled her to treat a diverse range of conditions, from pre and post-operative hip injuries to managing back pain, shoulder pain and Sacroiliac pain.

Our target is to help as many people as we can to find their new normal. To help them get unstuck and explore and develop a healthier, stronger normal.

“Not only is health a normal condition, but it is our duty not only to attain it but to maintain it.”

— Joseph Pilates, 1883-1967
